Fireproof
The Kendrick brothers have come up with yet another Christian hit movie! Fireproof is in theathers now! My wife and I have not seen it yet, but we really enjoyed their previous two movies: Flywheel and Facing the Giants. Here's a CNN article, talking about its unexpected popularity. It's encouraging to see Biblically-based, family-friendly movies enjoy such popularity, in a world that tries so hard to shut God out.
Fireproof is the story of a firefighter whose marriage is on the brink. While on the job, the husband's philosophy is "never leave your partner behind," he's willing to do just that, on the home front. The movie depicts the personal journey he undertakes, in an effort to save his marriage.
While Flywheel and Facing the Giants were two of our 8-year-old's favorites (he wanted to watch them over and over, on DVD), the subject matter in Fireproof is too grown-up for young children. Although the Kendricks handle everything in a sensitive way, adult issues, such as adultery and pornography, are significant in the starring couple's marital problems.
One interesting trivia fact is that lead actor Kirk Cameron has a rule that he never kisses anyone but his wife; a noble creed, given Hollywood's loose morals. So, in the movie, whenever he is shown kissing his on-screen wife, the filmmakers actually used his real wife, as a "stunt" double. Awww, that's sweet! :)

You seem to be a genuine, kind person. If I had to guess where it is that you get into your discussions on the 'net', I'd say it must be a political forum. I participate in the Comcast Political forum.

I do not regularly visit movie theaters. However, 'Fireproof' is one movie I think I may want to see.

I saw "Fireproof," and I highly, HIGHLY recommend it! I thought it was far, far better than Carman's "The Champion," which I saw at the theater years ago. At first, I wanted to support the movie, since it was a Christian movie, but I figured I would find it a bit boring. I was dead wrong.
My sister and her husband saw "Fireproof" together, and they have gone through some really serious problems in their marriage, so it really, really, powerfully touched both of them, and they could completely relate to the movie. My sister said that both of them were crying throughout the movie, and her husband is definitely not the crying type, but is more the sarcastic type.
I have also seen "Facing the Giants," and I thought that was an excellent movie. It definitely glorified God.
I have not seen "Flywheel," but I would like to see it.
I want to check out fireproof. I have heard many peoploe post good things.

Vicki and I went to see Fireproof last night. I enjoyed it. There was a lot of schmolzy stuff about it. I was touched by the effort Caleb made to rescue his marriage. I also found the movie to have some good comic relief.

These people believe in networking. It was not difficult to ask that they visit. What is difficult is approaching someone who just wants to be heard. These people will tell you to do a link exchange, and they never stop by and say hi.

Jim of jeleasure gave me a link to your Blog. I've red your latest posts. I'm haven't seen "Fireproof", but have heard a good deal about it. Interesting how decent movies with a spiritual undercurrent that get viewings always surprises the reviewers. They don't understand how many people are seeking such efforts among so much of the doss of film.
Your "Does God Exist" reads similar to some of my own writing. You use the example of parenthood. It was the lost of a child that brought me to belief in God and eventually led me to Christ. I say we can see God all around us and we can experience God, but we can not necessarily "prove" His existence. If "proving' Him was easy, we wouldn't need faith.

I finally "responded" to your comment over at my place. Since I'm naturally "long-winded", I usually use readers' comments to expand on something that is in my mind--in this case, it was the Kingdom of God. And the principle of "love" is certainly relevant to the Kingdom of God! Anyway, check it out if you have a chance.

I see you were on a couple of my blogs. My main Blog is devoted to the examination of God's Word and my journey to Christ.. This is the blog called "Night Writing in the Morning Light". (www.nitewrit.net). I have several Blogs beside this. Some are of photographs or recent travels. Some are family history. The "Write On" Blog is a kind of home page for writing - stories, poems, essays, many which were written and/or published before I found truth. I was 34 when I became a Christian.
I'm really more interested in concentrating on the spiritual. Night Writing in the Morning Light was my first Blog and main purpose in writing anymore. I hope you will check it out.
